Scott D. Smith, Sr.

Overview

Scott is a Senior Associate in the Gulfport, MS office. Prior to joining Daniel Coker, he had a successful solo practice from 2007 until 2023.

Scott began his legal career as the law clerk to U.S. Magistrate Judge, Jerry A. Davis, in the Northern District of Mississippi. After a four year tenure with Judge Davis, Scott moved to the Mississippi Gulf Coast where he joined a defense firm.  He has over thirty years of experience in premises liability defense and general insurance defense litigation.  Scott has served as lead counsel for the defense in numerous jury trials in both state and federal courts. 

Scott focuses his practice with Daniel Coker in the areas of premises liability defense, general insurance defense, and contracts litigation.  Scott’s wealth of knowledge and vast trial experience serve as an invaluable asset to our clients in cases involving intense litigation.
