Daniel Coker Horton & Bell, P.A. is committed to diversity in the workplace. Our commitment is led and implemented by the joint efforts of our Diversity Committee and Recruiting Committee. These committees work continuously to enhance and improve DCHB’s diversity initiatives.
DCHB proactively recruits minority professionals and staff and encourages active involvement in professional legal organizations such as: ALFA International Women’s Initiative, Mississippi Women in the Profession Committee of the Mississippi Bar Association, Mississippi Women Lawyers Association, Woman Advocate Committee of the ABA Section
for Litigation, Magnolia Bar Association, and Metro Jackson Black Women Lawyers Association.
DCHB annually attends Mississippi’s premier CLE for women lawyers named for the late Lieutenant Governor Evelyn Gandy
who paved the way for Mississippi women in public service. DCHB also sponsors the attendance of at least two minority law
students from Mississippi law schools. Since 2010, DCHB has also participated in DRI’s Diversity Conference, held in
Chicago, Illinois.
In 2012, DCHB established the “Daniel Coker Horton & Bell Diversity Scholarship Endowment,” designed to increase the
ability of the University of Mississippi to attract women and minority law students. These efforts will also strengthen and
contribute to diversity within the School of Law and ultimately within the legal community and profession.
